Carnegie The Cat

Whether it's greeting visitors at the door, pestering people for treats, or making great escapes outside—only to want back indoors moments later—the Brazil Public Library wouldn’t be complete without Carnegie the cat. Carnegie lived as a stray and was found at a former employee's home in May of 2013. The library had talked about getting a cat, and in June of 2013 the BPL officially adopted and named the stray after the building’s original architect. Carnegie’s twelfth birthday was celebrated in April, and patrons can continue to spot the beloved cat wandering through rows of books or enjoying the weather outdoors in his hutch.
